2.1. S4DBs Backend Collector

The S4DBs Backend Collector is an application that controls the collection of the performance information from one or many databases or server. Different data sources for monitoring data are defined in the collector for each supported database management system. For each data source, the collector starts a separate monitoring process that regularly polls the data source and writes the data to the Performance Database (PDB).

The collector also provides information about its own status and the activities of the running data collector processes. That information is stored in the Configuration and Status Database.
